The guitarist on this record just happened to play this for me by chance and I immediately vowed to give it a proper release. Expect sun kissed instrumental psych rock, quite noisy at times, with a nice mellow come-down. It's as simple as that, Ancient Astronaut do not adhere to the latest trends of new psychedelia, just mind melting psych jamming for the sake of it.

The three participants in this documented session: Zach Aguilar (Bass) Jeff Lowe (Drums) and Troy Martin (Guitar) all play in a number of bands around Marion, Indiana. Two tracks running at just under 11 minutes each. Edition of 100 C45 cassettes, pro dubbed with two variations on the art. £3 UK £3.50 Europe £4 ROW.
Samples can be downloaded here.

Skagos - Litha MMIX available

Finally! The label copies of Litha MMIX have arrived. This was originally released on 21st June (Litha) and was available at the Kamlaniye (the live counterpart to Skagos) shows around that time. These copies have taken this long to reach me for a number of reasons which are boring and I won't get in to. Anyway, a copy of Litha MMIX consists of a pro-CD (no CD-rs) and an insert in a handmade silk-screened card wallet. Ray of Skagos was entirely responsible for the packaging, and he made each one by hand. There are essentially two versions, one with green silk-screened detail and the other with black silk-screened detail. These will go out at random. The price is <strike>£6 UK/£7 everywhere else</strike>. Edition of 100, 40 of which are available from me, the remaining 60 are available from Eternal Warfare and the band. The Skagos CDs are now sold out.

I also have some distributed titles available:

Teitanblood - Seven Chalices DLP (NED) £17.50
Saturnalia Temple - Saturnalia Temple 7" EP (Nuclear Winter) £5
Oaken Throne number 6 - £7

Very small quantity of each.

Update

Just thought I'd make a quick update post. I know, Litha MMIX is vastly overdue, rest assured I hope to have it available quite soon. Also there are another couple of releases on the way and I'll have some very select items for distribution. In the meantime, feel free to send me an email so I have your address, then I can send out emails to everyone interested as soon as the EP is available. I will of course also make an update on this website as soon as it is available.

First release! Skagos - Litha MMIX

The time has finally come to announce the first release on Things Behind the Moon! It shall be a CD EP entitled Litha MMIX from Canadian (or Cascadian, if you're in the know) Black Metal band Skagos. The standard Black Metal buzzwords such as folk-influences, nature-inspired etc won't do as descriptors. Just listen here - http://www.myspace.com/skagos exceptional and powerful, I think you'll agree.

Litha MMIX will be an edition of 100, with special packaging made by the band. It is intended to remedy the lack of a CD release from Skagos to date, and to provide a teaser in anticipation of the release of full-length Ást. The tracklisting will consist of two tracks taken from Ást, and a new interpretation (not a cover) of Wolves in the Thone Room's 'Vastness and Sorrow'. Tracklisting is as follows:

1 Blossoms Will Sprout From the Carcass
2 Of this Empty Land...
3 A Night that Ends, As All Nights End, When the Sun Rises

It should be ready and available in three to four weeks. An update will be posted then. Very happy to be releasing this EP from such a promising band.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://thingsbehindthemoon.blogspot.com/2009/05/first-release-skagos-litha-mmix.html' title='First release!
